Preventive Dentistry Vancouver, WA
Learning how to care for your teeth and prevent problems before they happen is our first priority. We want your teeth to last you a lifetime, and we can help you achieve this. Our services include:
The best way to prevent costly dental procedures it to keep great care of your teeth with a strong oral hygiene routine. Our best advice on building an oral hygiene routine is to make a habit out of it, never miss a day. At first, it will seem like a bit of a chore to brush and floss at least twice a day, but eventually, it will feel strange to miss a day, and you will find yourself accomplishing your oral hygiene goals faster and without effort. When you find yourself without a brush (like after lunch) a simple rinse with some water can make a substantial difference in washing away unwanted bacteria and food particles.
No matter how busy your schedule gets, you should always make time for your bi-annual dental visit to get your teeth professionally scrubbed squeaky clean. You can be on top of your oral hygiene at all times, brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing regularly, and using good quality products, but you still cannot remove plaque altogether.
Professional cleanings and examinations at least once every six months is critical to maintaining a healthy and happy mouth. When you come in for a dental examination, we will check to make sure that you are free from oral maladies like oral cancers, tumors, cysts, cavities, and damage to teeth. Our goal is to catch oral maladies while they are still in the primary stages, that way we can take action and hopefully prevent them from progressing.
Sleep apnea is a condition where you cease breathing for 5-30 seconds periodically throughout the night. If you wake up after a full night sleep and are still tired, or if you constantly wake throughout the night, there is a good chance that you suffer from sleep apnea. We have some interesting and useful treatment methods to help our patients deal with sleep apnea and achieve a good night’s rest.
At Alder Dental, we have adopted digital X-rays to allow us to save our patients time and money while giving them a higher quality of care. Using these X-rays, we can look into the inner structures of your mouth and find issues while they are still in their early, preventable stages.
Every time that you come in for a checkup, we will screen your mouth for signs of oral cancer. There are some visual cues that we look for when we screen your mouth for oral cancer. If we can catch it early, your chances of successful treatment are high, so make sure to come in regularly for examinations and professional cleanings.
Dental sealants are one of the ways that we give our patients some piece of mind. We can apply dental sealants to the chewing surface of premolars and molars to protect them from cavity-causing bacteria. Dental sealants are most commonly placed on kids who have their adult teeth come in, but we also place them on the teeth of adults if they would like some added cavity protection.
